DINANAGAR: The Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi, on Sunday launched the “Mera Ghar Mere Naam” program to give property rights to people living in houses in the “lal lakir” of villages and towns.

“Lal lakir” refers to the land that is part of the habitation of the village and is used only for non-agricultural purposes.

Addressing a rally at a state-level function held here, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Chief Deputy Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Revenue Minister Aruna Chaudhary, envisioned the program will bring essential help to all people, especially those in need and underprivileged. layers.

He said that previously this program had been launched only for residents of villages, but is now extended to eligible residents of towns in “lal lakir”.

Channi said the revenue department has been commissioned to undertake a drone survey of these residential properties in both rural and urban areas for digital mapping.

The chief minister said that subsequently all eligible residents, after proper identification or verification, will receive the property cards (sanads) to give them property rights within a limited time frame.

He said that before that, the beneficiaries will have a period of 15 days to file their objections and in case of no response from them, the property card will be issued which will serve for the registration against which they can benefit from the loans. of banks or even sell their properties, thereby increasing its monetary value.

Channi also mentioned that people residing in houses in ancient settlements (mohallas) for a long time will also be covered by the program, according to an official statement.

The chief minister said that another ‘Basera’ program was providing relief to people residing in slums outside of ‘lal lakir’ by giving them property rights.

He said that on Diwali, the state government will guarantee property rights to people under this program.

Channi said that these pro-people initiatives are aimed at bringing relief to the people.
